I have been subbing now for a while. I have subbed every grade except 8th (which I don't plan on subbing). I have definitely come to realize that I was right. I AM a primary grade (K-3rd) teacher. I just LOVE it! Well, I had a conversation with my family recently about the differences between primary and intermediate (4th-6th) and thought this list would be fun. So here goes -
You know you're a primary grade teacher when .....
1. Your name is called three times a minute for 6 hours a day.
2. You have tied the same shoe for the hundredth time this morning.
3. You find yourself repeating things five times and then expecting an echo from 20 little voices.
4. The subtleties of the eye roll have yet to be mastered, but the students keep trying.
5. The kids need to go to the bathroom 30 seconds after recesses and then again 5 minutes later.
6. You find yourself reading your mail with such animation and vocal variation that you should win an Oscar for such a performance.
7. You are teaching your students the same things you teach your dog; sit and stay.
8. Yu haf to dkod evre wurd or sintins thu stoodinc rit.
9. You have the same routine every day and freak out on the weekends because your routine is thrown off!
10. None of the above things bothers you and you actually look forward to it all.
and finally, the best reason of all:
11. You realize that no matter what happens, the students still look at you 5 minutes later with love and stars in their eyes!
Well, I hope you enjoyed that. I truly have found my calling (career wise) and cannot wait to get in the classroom. A primary grade classroom to be exact!

That was great! Did you sub at all this week?
Yes! Every day but today! Whew! What a week! Thanks.
Good job, Angel. Glad that you know that you are meant for the primary grades and that you love it so much. Life is good when we are doing what we love!
Keep up the good work, Mrs. Call!
:)
Once you get your own class, maybe you could do a fun after-school mini cheerleading clinic or something! Fun!
